Biography Born in 1885, Paul Jordan Smith was a journalist, editor, and bibliofile; his novel, Nomad, was published in 1925; with Floyd Dell, translated and edited Robert Burton's Anatomy of Melancholy (1927); wrote a book column for the Los Angeles Times, and served as literary editor from 1933-1957; he died on June 17, 1971 in Los Angeles.
